  (1)根据选项关键词定位到原文;

  (2)依据原文的意思进行:“三错一对”的判断;

  24. With regard to mass sport, the author holds that governments should ______.

  A. organize “grassroots” sports events B. supervise local sports associations

  C. increase funds for sports clubs D. invest in public sports facilities

正确项 invest in public sports facilities 刚好是对第四段第②句providing common goods making sure there is ...以及第④句provide the conditions for sport to thrive的概括。

比如,错误选项[A]organize “grassroots” sports events利用该段第①句 getting involved in the planning of such a fundamentally “grassroots” concept... [C]increase funds for sports clubs篡改②句 making sure there is...the money to pave tennis and netball courts,这里要表达的是:政府加大投资的对象是“公共设施(common goods,而不是“运动俱乐部(sports clubs)。

  ①Indeed, there is something a little absurd in the state getting involved in the planning of such a fundamentally “grassroots” concept as community sports associations. ②If there is a role for government, it should really be getting involved in providing common goods—making sure there is space for playing fields and the money to pave tennis and netball courts, and encouraging the provision of all these activities in schools. ③But successive governments have presided over selling green spaces, squeezing money from local authorities and declining attention on sport in education. ④Instead of wordy, worthy strategies, future governments need to do more to provide the conditions for sport to thrive. ⑤Or at least not make them worse.
